Bonney Lake

Bonney Lake is a small, close-knit community in Pierce County and a city I have come to love! If you spend any time enjoying the outdoors, Bonney Lake will inevitably be someplace you come to know quite well. In the summer, we go through on our way to enjoy an afternoon at Lake Tapps or stop to pick up last-minute essentials on our way up to play on the White River in Greenwater. In the winter, our favorite thing to do is stop for mexican food at Mazatlan on the way home from skiing at Crystal mountain or a day of snowshoeing in the foothills of Mt. Rainier.

The city of Bonney Lake has grown so much over the last couple of decades and every time we’re up there I think “If we lived here, we would never need to come off the hill!” Some of my favorite restaurants are there, Thian Thai (best Thai food on the planet!), Mad Dogs Cafe (amazing breakfast) and of course my kids favorite, Hop Jack’s.  With so many new developments going up in the area, the face of Hwy 410 (the main road through town) seems to change every time we drive through.

My favorite thing about Bonney Lake is that it’s close enough to the big cities of Tacoma and Seattle to still take advantage of everything they have to offer but living there still feels like being in a small town. Kids in the area are served by the Sumner, White River and Dieringer School Districts and inevitably grow up with a love of the outdoors. How could you not, waking up to that big, beautiful mountain? Driving up to visit, you couldn’t get a better welcome than this……
